Dream Corps JUSTICE works with directly impacted communities to transform the criminal justice system at the federal, state, and local level. 


Purpose

The Digital Community Organizer is an integral part of the Dream Corps JUSTICE team. At a time when people are spending more of their lives and building more of their identities online, it is critical to treat digital organizing and digital community building with the same seriousness as traditional organizing.  The Digital Community Organizer will work under the direction of the Dream Corps JUSTICE Organizing Director and Dream Corps Deputy Director of Engagement to develop strategies and tactics supporting the growth of our national Empathy Network, a network of local leaders directly impacted by the criminal justice system. Your role is to make sure that every JUSTICE mobilization, action, campaign or event, people leave feeling inspired and more deeply engaged with the Dream Corps. 


Responsibilities

  • Support our national Empathy Network community by designing accessible digital spaces for our directly impacted leaders. 
  • Generate innovative organizing tactics to bring new people into the Empathy Network through digital outreach. 
  • Support the JUSTICE team on federal, state, and local advocacy campaigns, particularly through conducting online events such as webinars, Twitter Spaces, and IG Live and activating volunteers and members. 
  • Work with other Dream Corps organizers on ladder of engagement opportunities for volunteers working on all-remote campaigns. 
  • Manage all digital aspects of the national “Day of Empathy” and train digital volunteers to help execute events across the country.
  • Ensure all platforms and tools are integrated across the program and follow the same structures and systems.


Qualifications & Skills

  • First and foremost, a hunger and curiosity for advancing bold criminal justice reform. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all cultures, ages, races, and professional industries, both verbally and in writing. 
  • Impeccable attention to detail. 
  • Work both independently and as part of a high-performing team.
  • Tech savvy & keeps current with emerging digital platforms
  • Handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
  • Excellent interpersonal and project management skills.
  • Political or advocacy experience is preferred. 
  • People with lived experience or some other personal connection to the criminal legal system are encouraged to apply. 
  • Experience with programs such as Salesforce, Slack, Wordpress, Action Kit, Mobile Commons, ThruText and Asana are essential. 
  • We are looking for a candidate who spends a lot of time thinking about the role of organizing and mobilizing people in digital spaces.

All full-time employees receive Medical, Dental & Vision coverage. Dream Corps pays 100% of premiums for employee, spouse and dependents. Part-time employees receive 50% coverage. After a 6 month waiting period, employees can contribute to our retirement plan. Currently, Dream Corps offers up to a 5% match. We also offer a flexible spending, pre-tax program for medical expenses, dependent care expenses, transit expenses and parking expenses. All full-time Dream Corps employees accrue 4 weeks of vacation time off and 12 days of sick time off over the first year of employment. Part-time employees accrue time off on a prorated basis. In addition to 10 paid holidays, Dream Corps also provides paid time off from December 24th through January 1st each year.
