Purpose

Dream Corps seeks a mid-level Development Manager to support our goal of maintaining and growing foundation and corporate philanthropic relationships. The primary responsibility of the Development Manager will be to write high quality grant proposals, reports, and other funding requests; and to work closely with the Deputy Director of Development to ensure a streamlined and efficient grant writing and deliverables management process. This role will also provide a high level of administrative support to all Development Team members, including through: conducting research to help identify corporate and foundation funding, sponsorship and partnership prospects;  scheduling support; note-taking on internal/external meetings; and donor/relationship record-keeping. 


The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, deadline driven, familiar with grant writing and foundation fundraising practices, and possess a strong orientation to using project management and data tracking systems to increase efficiency.


Responsibilities

Grant and Report Writing (50%)

  • Provide high quality first to final drafts (in collaboration with Deputy Director) for 50+ grants, reports, and letters of intent annually
  • Work with Finance Team to gather information necessary to submit proposals or report to corporate/foundation funders
  • Develop grant work plans and timelines, manage submissions calendar in Asana, track deadlines for all upcoming grant proposal and report deadlines
  • Collaborate with staff to develop nuanced and accurate narratives for foundation proposals and reports and keep team on track for deadlines
  • Gather attachments for proposal submissions (ie Form 990s, Board of Director lists, staff bios, etc.)
  • Uploading text and attachments into grant portals


Research, Deliverables Management and Data Hygiene (40%)

  • Conduct prospect research for potential foundation and corporate funders, including for grants, sponsorships, and other funding or partnership opportunities 
  • Comply with all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate donors; ensure that program team incorporates grant/corporate partner deliverables into annual or event plans, and track execution of deliverables throughout the funding relationship to ensure compliance
  • Show vigilance in updating records in Salesforce database and tracking funder communications
  • Perform additional tasks to ensure fundraising data hygiene and accurate record keeping as needed
  • Leverage Dream Corps internal systems such as Slack/Asana to be highly collaborative/communicative


Additional Department Tasks (10%) 

  • Proofreading development department materials
  • Assist with other fundraising projects as requested
  • Provide scheduling support for Program Directors and Development team staff for fundraising-related meetings
  • Other activities as needed to support stewardship of foundation and corporate partners

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of grant writing/grant management experience, or other relevant experience in a nonprofit fundraising department or writing role
  • Strong writer and editor with demonstrated ability to produce compelling, typo-free content for a variety of audiences
  • Experience interpreting financial information in 990s, project budgets, and other financial statements
  • Proficiency with or demonstrated aptitude in learning computer programs such as Google Suite, Asana, Salesforce, and Slack
  • Detail oriented, and capable of meeting deadlines and adhering to standardized recordkeeping procedures 
  • Ability to collaborate with people and synthesize diverse sets of information and perspectives into a concise narrative
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced, deadline driven environment

All full-time employees receive Medical, Dental & Vision coverage. Dream Corps pays 100% of premiums for employee, spouse and dependents. Part-time employees receive 50% coverage. After a 6 month waiting period, employees can contribute to our retirement plan. Currently, Dream Corps offers up to a 5% match. We also offer a flexible spending, pre-tax program for medical expenses, dependent care expenses, transit expenses and parking expenses. All full-time Dream Corps employees accrue 4 weeks of vacation time off and 12 days of sick time off over the first year of employment. Part-time employees accrue time off on a prorated basis. In addition to 10 paid holidays, Dream Corps also provides paid time off from December 24th through January 1st each year.
