Dream Corps is looking for a scrappy, creative, self-driven, detail-oriented Communications Assistant. This role sets the tone for the first interaction of Dream Corps with all of our communities, a key contributor to our content, and an integral part of bringing Dream Corps’s mission to life. You’re a good fit for this role if you’re quick on your feet, have a knack for storytelling, and are highly adaptive to the rapidly changing landscape of digital media. You’re up for the challenge of figuring out how to write email copy for the bipartisan criminal justice summit #cut50 is hosting, telling the stories of those most impacted by climate change and disasters, and firing off social media posts from the latest cohort training Dream Corps Tech is holding—all in the same day. You can distill social justice to its essence.
You’ll be reporting to the Communications Manager and working on content for Dream Corps and all of our programs.
Have a proven track record of creating attention-grabbing, engaging copy for all digital channels.
SKILLS & ATTRIBUTE
Produce compelling and engaging emails, social media content, digital advertising copy, and website content.
Edit pre-existing content and optimize for search engines.
Ensure all content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality, and tone for voice for a broad, general audience.
Experience writing content for social justice organizations in general or in the criminal justice, green economy, or tech equity fields.
Detail-oriented and deadline driven.
Meticulous attention to detail with outstanding writing, proofreading, fact checking and editing skills.
Ability to take complex issues and simplify them for broad audiences.
Not required but helpful
Graphic design or video editing/production experienced
