Salary Range:    $65k-$74k Bay Area, California depending on experience and location (range will be adjusted for location)

Purpose:

The Communications Coordinator will serve a key role on the communications team and be the primary liaison between internal and external stakeholders, responsible for working with principals to ensure information is shared and communications are cohesive and streamlined across multiple brands and accounts.

The Communications Coordinator will also lend functional area expertise as a member of the Communications Team to advance the work of other key stakeholders. This role will be responsible for facilitating real-time communications and rapid response.

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Communications Strategy and Campaign Coordination

  • Develop and implement a communication plan for sharing information, tailoring tone and voice to ensure a cohesive messaging with key stakeholders
  • Responsible for all knowledge sharing with internal and external stakeholders and principals
  • Build a cohesive narrative and ensure that all parties have a strong understanding of priorities across organizations
  • Support the development of strategic campaigns through collaboration across the programs
  • Project manage the sharing of information and ensure messaging is shared and crafted in real-time
  • Develops key messaging and talking points to distribute across internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage communications with principal and principal’s team to coordinate messaging


Content Creation and Deployment

  • Identify opportunities for high-impact content and opportunities for cross-promotion that will excite and engage audiences
  • Support the drafting of compelling social media and long-format content to align messaging across internal and external stakeholders
  • Be able to identify trends and opportunities to join social media conversations when appropriate understanding the tone and voice of multiple stakeholders
  • Ensure principle and internal teams have a streamlined process
  • Develop and execute communications initiatives in partnership with teams across the organizations
  • Provide proactive and reactive messaging that supports key initiatives and program rollouts
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to leaders while identifying and implementing creative communications programs to engage a variety of audiences
  • Write and/or edit leadership communications, effectively capturing the voice and strategic priorities of the leaders
  • Share key Dream Corps priorities with external stakeholders and help craft collaborative messaging


Thought Leadership

  • Integrate internal and external communications and narrative with the broader Dream Corps communications team
  • Amplify important partnerships with partners, foundations, and corporations through targeted engagements
  • Co-create campaigns with principles to help meet specific goals (brand awareness, earned media, donations, advocacy)


Travel:

  • Must be willing and able to travel occasionally (estimated 10%), including for in-person staff meetings and retreats


Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing social media accounts, creating content calendars, and digital storytelling
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively communicate with principles


Preferred Education/Skills/Experiences:

  • Work and coordinate communications across teams to ensure efficient knowledge sharing
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, including excellent writing and editing skills, persuasive communication, public presentation, and the ability to serve as an effective internal and external spokesperson
  • Excellent project and time management skills, including the ability to manage up and manage across where the project team does not consist of direct reports and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • A track record of successfully moving a project from goal to effective execution
  • Appreciation for empathy-based communications and storytelling, digital advocacy, grassroots organizing, and movement building
  • Dynamic, proactive leader, self-driven, highly reliable, and able to work productively independently and remotely
  • A passion for bridging divides and bringing people together around a common cause
  • A roll-up-your-sleeves, no-job-too-small, go-the-extra-mile work ethic
  • A values-based, empathy-centered, principled approach and willingness to work with people you don’t always agree with to advance positive change

Employee Benefits:

All full-time employees receive Medical, Dental & Vision coverage. Dream Corps pays 100% of premiums for employees, their spouse, and dependents. Part-time employees receive 50% coverage. After a 6-month waiting period, employees can contribute to our retirement plan. Currently, Dream Corps offers up to a 5% match. We also offer flexible spending, pre-tax program for medical expenses, dependent care expenses, transit expenses, and parking expenses. All full-time Dream Corps employees accrue 4 weeks of vacation time off and 12 days of sick time off over the first year of employment. Part-time employees accrue time off on a prorated basis. In addition to 10 paid holidays, Dream Corps also provides paid time off from December 24th through January 1st each year.
